Of Whims and Fancies

In my younger years, I knew some my friends who, after being repeatedly baffled by failures in love, formed an association . The association was called the FOSLA (Frustrated One-Sided Lovers' Association). I had almost forgotten about it until a few days ago. Being a teacher, I am always in touch with young teenagers and have heard and seen many stories of teenage infatuations, of how young boys fancy their chances by just a smile from a young lady, of how bewitched they look, of how the young girls are pretty much aware of this, of how, sometimes, they make mince-meat of such smitten boys and then move on....adding another member to the FOSLA.

This poem is dedicated to all FOSLA members...then...and now...and forever.

We Always Remember

I will begin this episode with a poetic preface for a poem that is not written by me but by someone who was my first inspiration and guide in poetry. I lost touch with her 20 years ago and I hope that if my voice can be still be heard across this vast temporal distance, she would reclaim her poem.
